  • Strengthening Families aims to improve the well being families


  • Strengthening Families approach is for everyone to work together to help your family/whanau


  • It helps families who have children 17 years old or under
  • Whanau are having problems and may be getting help from:
  • - Schools
  • - Group Special Education
  • - Health Service Worker
  • - Child, Youth and Family
  • - Housing New Zealand
  • - Work and Income New Zealand
  • - Maori Organisations
  • - Community Agencies


  • To make sure you and your  Family / Whanau  are getting the help and assistance needed from both Government  &  Community Agencies.
  • It is about assisting your Family / Whanau  with making your own decisions with the help of any of the above agencies you may decide to use


  • Meeting between yourselves and agencies.
  • The meeting can only happen with your consent.
  • A plan is set that everyone including yourselves agree to.
  • Everyone involved be committed to helping.
  • Independent facilitators are available to run the meetings.
