Kirikiriroa Marae is an urban marae for Mataa waka. The marae follows the kawa/protocols  and tikanga of Tainui. The late Maori Queen Te Arikinui Te Atairangikaahu was the patron of the marae, and remained so up until her passing. That mantle has now been assumed by her successor, King Tuheitia.
