Massage (Mirimiri) Therapy Service

Massage (Mirimiri) Therapy is offered as part of the Cardiac and Stroke Rehabilitation Services. It promotes self-care methods within the individual and within the family unit.

Strong emphasis on maintaining therapeutic lifestyle changes are encouraged. Mirimiri clients and patients are reminded that the sessions do not replace healthy physical activity, sound nutritional eating plan, and a harmonious family environment.

Proper ACC pathway and physiotherapy is always encouraged.

The service promotes the following key messages:

  • Toiora - Healthy Lifestyles choices (informed decision-making processes).
  • Mauri Ora – Accessibility for everyone’s health needs. With respect to cultural & indigenous principles.
  • Self-care methods within themselves and their whānau / `ohana /family. (Including the importance of maintaining a harmonious home environment).
  • Always creating room for improvement of TLC (Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes) – this includes ho`oponopono / whakatikatika (to make a wrong right or improve from good to even better in any given situation).
  • Physical activity and nutritional planning is an important key to maintaining a healthier & sustainable future.
