Nga Hua Pharmacy

Waiting Times

Your prescription will be ready for you to pick up within at least one hour. Please let us know the best time for you to come in and pick it up. If there are any delays in obtaining your medicine, or if we are unable to supply all medicines at the time of original dispensing, we will make sure you get it as soon as possible.

Repeats on Prescription

If you are entitled to a repeat on your prescriptions we will only dispense this on your request, provided this is before the final date on the label. You can telephone or fax us to let us know when you need your repeat. We will then arrange for it to be dispensed for you to collect.

Prescription Records

We maintain a record of the subsidised prescription items which have been dispensed to you by us. Details are kept in our computer database, which includes items paid for by your family. Please make sure that we have the correct members of your family included as part of this record.

Prescription Subsidy Card

After paying the prescription charges for 20 subsidised items, at any pharmacy, from 1 February to 31 January each year we will issue your family a Prescription Subsidy Card. The subsidy card means you are entitled to pay lower prescription charges for subsidised medicines.

Dispense of Medication

We dispense your prescription according to the professional requirements set out by the Ministry of Health, the subsidy requirements of the Pharmaceutical Schedule and our contract with the District Health Board. We provide professional advice and counselling to you about your medicines. This is so that you can receive the optimum health outcomes from the medicines prescribed for you, so that you know the correct storage requirements of the medicines, and the safe disposal of any unused medicines.

Your Safety

We have written and implemented policies for security and take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of you and our employees. We also take special measures to protect the Health information held on file at Nga Hua Pharmacy which relates to you.

Medicine Delivery

If you are unable to collect your medicine from the pharmacy for mobility reasons, we can deliver it to you for a small charge.

Medicine Receipts

We will always give you a receipt with your medicine, detailing the total cost you pay, and the cost paid by the government.

Medicine charges for subsidised medicines are determined by government. We charge you the amount set down by government. The method of calculation of charges is complicated and include a co-payment, and sometimes a part charge. You have the right to question us about these charges and receive an explanation of the charges if you do not understand how we calculated the final cost. Medicine charges may change, sometimes each month, depending upon the subsidy price negotiated between PHARMAC and the drug company. A premium is charged if the prescribed medicine is not fully subsidised. If you ask about this additional cost we will always inform you if there is another alternative medicine which is fully subsidised.
